A Program of Connection For Better Living

Small daily practices, quietly practiced, meaningfully shared.

Rituals For Better Living is a free community wellness program of Connection For Better Living, Inc., a Pennsylvania 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We support individuals and neighborhoods in Erie County and beyond with practical rituals for mental wellbeing, connection, and civic participation.

Today's small ritual

The Five-Minute Kitchen Reset

Before you leave your kitchen tonight, spend five minutes clearing surfaces, running warm water over dishes, and filling your kettle for the morning. A small evening ritual that lets tomorrow start with less friction and a little more room to breathe.

A new ritual is added every Sunday.

What we mean by "rituals"

We do not mean anything religious or ceremonial. In our program, a "ritual" is simply a small daily practice — five minutes of writing, a Sunday-evening walk, a phone call to a neighbor, a two-line gratitude note before bed. The pattern is what matters. The consistency is what changes things.

Public health research consistently shows that people with stable daily routines and small community connections report better mental health, lower stress, and higher civic engagement than people without them. Our program is a modest effort to make those small routines easier to start and easier to keep.

What we do

The Rituals Program

A free weekly newsletter and printed leaflet distributed in Erie County libraries, community centers, and healthcare waiting rooms. Each edition presents one small ritual, the brief science behind it, and one page of guidance for adopting it.

Community Wellness Advocacy

We advocate at the county and municipal level for public spaces, library programming, and community centers that support everyday wellbeing. Our focus is on the small policy work that makes healthy daily routines possible — benches on walking routes, extended library hours, quiet rooms in public buildings.
