The Five-Minute Kitchen Reset
Clear surfaces, run warm water over dishes, fill the kettle for morning. Five minutes.
A free weekly program distributed by Connection For Better Living, Inc. Each week we present one small daily ritual, the modest science behind it, and one page of practical guidance for adopting it into an existing routine.
Every Sunday we publish a new ritual on this website and email it to subscribers. The same edition is printed as a single-sheet leaflet and distributed the following week to community locations in Erie County: the Erie County Public Library, community centers, healthcare waiting rooms, and cooperating churches and neighborhood organizations.
Everything we produce is free, unbranded (beyond a small footer noting Connection For Better Living, Inc.), and freely reproducible.
A selection of past editions from our archive:
Clear surfaces, run warm water over dishes, fill the kettle for morning. Five minutes.
Write two sentences before you turn off the light. One thing that happened today. One thing you noticed about someone else. Nothing more.
Once a week, call one neighbor by name. Ask nothing. Say hello. Ask if they need anything from town.
The first ten minutes of your day belong to you, not to a screen. Coffee, water, a window. That is the entire practice.
Thirty minutes minimum, no destination. Alone or with a familiar person. The route matters less than the repeat visits to it.
We do not run a formal mailing list infrastructure — instead we maintain a simple correspondence list. Write to info@ritualsforbetterliving.org with the subject line "Add to weekly list" and a member of the organization will add you. You may unsubscribe at any time by replying to any weekly email.
If you run a community center, library branch, healthcare waiting area, or neighborhood organization and would like to display our printed leaflets, we send small batches at no cost. Write to info@ritualsforbetterliving.org with your location and the number of copies you can display, and we will add you to the printer's route.
